The Department of Mathematics offers bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Master’s degree and Ph. D. degree in Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. The Department gives special importance to research activity. The salient research areas in the Department include Graph Theory, Combinatorial Objects, Combinatorics, Numerical Analysis, Algebra, Special Functions, Differential Geometry, Mathematical Modeling Techniques, Differential Equations, Operator Theory, Functional Analysis, Approximation Theory, Topology and Dynamical systems.
In addition to computer and teaching services, Department faculty members are involved with most of the committees at the University and Faculty levels.
The Department contributes to the welfare of the community through a variety of short courses and review sessions designed for high school students administered by the Faculty’s Consultation and Training Office. Many of the Department faculty members cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (K.F.A.S.), the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (K.I.S.R.) and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature. Some faculty members render important services for many well-known scientific organizations and associations, and they participate in the review of many of the research projects and papers presented in conferences or published in scientific journals.
