Admission (M.Sc. Mathematics)
1. Admission Policy
1.1. Admission Types Allowed:
The Mathematics program is available for full-time, part-time, degree, and non-degree students.
1.2. Admission Requirements:
- The following major fields of study from the following colleges are accepted to apply for the M.Sc. program in Mathematics:
i) Mathematics
ii) Physics
iii) Engineering
iv) Mathematics Education
v) Any other majors with minor in Mathematics.
I) Degree Students:
Part-time and Full-time students can be admitted into the Mathematics program provided the following requirements are fulfilled:
i) Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00.
ii) Pass the following courses with an average GPA of B- :
- Linear Algebra (Math 111 or its equivalent)
- Calculus III (Math 211 or its equivalent)
- Ordinary Differential Equations (Math 240 or its equivalent).
iii) The minimum level of the required language test score should not be less than 6 in IELTS, 60 in TOEFL(iBT) or 500 in TOEFL (ITP).
iv) Pass an entrance exam with a score not less than 60%. The entrance exam is based on materials from Linear Algebra (Math 111),
Calculus III (Math 211) and Ordinary Differential Equations (Math 240).
v) Pass an interview conducted by the graduate committee in the department.
II) Non-Degree Students:
Part-time and Full-time students can be admitted into the Mathematics program provided the following requirements are fulfilled:
i) Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.67.
ii) Pass the following courses with an average GPA of B- :
- Real Analysis (Math 329 or its equivalent)
- Complex Analysis (Math 330 or its equivalent)
- Advanced Linear Algebra (Math 363 or its equivalent)
iii) The minimum level of the required language test score should not be less than 6 in IELTS, 60 in TOEFL (iBT) or 500 in TOEFL (ITP).
iv) Pass an entrance exam with a score not less than 60%. The entrance exam is based on materials from Linear Algebra (Math 111),
Calculus III (Math 211) and Ordinary Differential Equations (Math 240).
v) Pass an interview conducted by the graduate committee in the department.
1.3. Evaluation Criteria:
To be admitted in the Mathematics program the student must fulfill the above admission requirements, and pass an entry exam set by the graduate committee in the department.
